TUCSON – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team placed sixth at the West Texas Desert Invite played at the Ventana Canyon Golf Course. Freshman
Khivi Kaur paced the Otters with a fourth place finish at the par-72 course.
"We bounced back today and played much better," head coach
Jim Ragan said. "The score was similar but the "highlight real" was impressive at times. Khivi had a great tournament, shooting a solid one-under par 71 today and posting a top-five finish. Cathy had a slow start today but finished strong to post 74. This was a good warm up for our conference tournament in two weeks."
Kaur fired a four-over for the tournament, posting a final round score of 1-under 71 to climb up 25 spots on the leaderboard. The newcomer carded five birdies in the second round.
Senior
Cathy Tong finished in 14
th place on the strength of a 2-over in round two to post a score of 6-over. The senior carded two eagles in the tournament and added three birdies.
Freshman
Esther Sheu placed 35
th at 13-over while
Audrey Cheng was 53
rd at 19-over.
Morgan Pittman rounded out the Otters in 58
th at 22-over.
CSUMB will now turn to postseason play as they head to the CCAA Championship held at the Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.
