Otters Place Sixth at West Texas Desert Invite

Khivi Kaur finishes fourth overall

April 07, 2026

TUCSON – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team placed sixth at the West Texas Desert Invite played at the Ventana Canyon Golf Course. Freshman Khivi Kaur paced the Otters with a fourth place finish at the par-72 course.

"We bounced back today and played much better," head coach Jim Ragan said. "The score was similar but the "highlight real" was impressive at times. Khivi had a great tournament, shooting a solid one-under par 71 today and posting a top-five finish. Cathy had a slow start today but finished strong to post 74. This was a good warm up for our conference tournament in two weeks."

Kaur fired a four-over for the tournament, posting a final round score of 1-under 71 to climb up 25 spots on the leaderboard. The newcomer carded five birdies in the second round.

Senior Cathy Tong finished in 14th place on the strength of a 2-over in round two to post a score of 6-over. The senior carded two eagles in the tournament and added three birdies.

Freshman Esther Sheu placed 35th at 13-over while Audrey Cheng was 53rd at 19-over. Morgan Pittman rounded out the Otters in 58th at 22-over.

CSUMB will now turn to postseason play as they head to the CCAA Championship held at the Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.
