NORMAN, Okla. --
Ping is the sound often heard on tee box of any golf course. For two Cal State Monterey Bay Men's golfers, it's more than just a sweet sound, it's an award.

Carr Vernon (Poplar Bluff HS) and Ray Richards (Tualatin HS) are among 22 Division II golfers named to the Division II PING All–America Team. Vernon and Richards are seventh and eighth CSUMB men's golfers to earn the honor and the first time either of them has been listed.

Vernon earned second team All–America while Richards comes in as an honorable mention. Both golfers were members of the PING All–West Region team.

Vernon was tops on the team in round average shooting 72.97. He finished the season with a tie for 10th place at the National Championship. Vernon also paced the team with 11 total Top 10 finishes including three Top 5s and a first place finish during the regular season.

Richards was second on the team in Top 10 finishes with six, including four Top 5 finishes. His tournament win came at the NCAA West/South Central Regional. The junior averaged a 74.34 per round during the 2014-15 season.

The Otters will kick off the fall season with the National Championship Preview Tournament in Denver, Colo. at Green Valley Ranch Golf Course on September 21–22.
