SEASIDE, Calif. — The young Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team gave a pair of solid efforts on the road last weekend at CCAA contenders Cal Poly Pomona and UC San Diego. The Otters will look to turn those efforts into Ws this weekend when they host San Francisco State (Friday) and Sonoma State (Saturday) in The Kelp Bed.

Tipoff both nights will be at 5:30 p.m. as the openers of men's/women's doubleheader action.

CSUMB dropped a tough 66-60 decision to Sonoma State in Rohnert Park on Jan. 2. The Otters bounced back for their first conference win of the season the following night, defeating the Gators 84-80 in The City.

Fans who can't make it to The Kelp Bed this weekend can follow all of the action online at www.OtterAthletics.com. Veteran play-by-play man Kevin Richardson will handle the call both nights. Visit Otter GameDay Central for all of the appropriate links.

GATOR 3–DOT NOTES (0–18, 0–14 CCAA): The Gators enter Friday's game in The Kelp Bed in search of their first win under first–year Head Coach Dennis Cox, who led Clayton State (Ga.) to the 2011 NCAA Division II Championship…the closest the Gators have come to victory was a 70–68 loss at Cal State Stanislaus on Jan. 17…they've struggled especially on the road, losing by an average margin of 21.5 ppg away from The Swamp…Michelle Sutton is SFSU's top scorer (11.4 ppg)…Savannah Camp is the top rebounder (4.8 rpg).

WHEN LAST WE MET: SFSU turned an 11–point first half deficit into a late 7–point lead it couldn't sustain in CSUMB's 84–80 victory on Jan. 3. Jazmine Johnson came off the bench to post the most proficient shooting night in Otter history, making 10–of–11 from the field as part of a her season–high 23 points. She completed the double–double with a season–high 13 rebounds. McKenna Hill added a career–high 18 points. Savannah Camp led the Gators with 21 points.

WHEN LAST WE PLAYED: Normally anemic shooting UC San Diego made six of its first 10 shots from beyond the arc to race to a big early lead in a 73–56 win over CSUMB on Jan. 31. The Tritons built a 24–point halftime lead (47–23), CSUMB's biggest halftime deficit of the season. The Otters rallied and out–scored UCSD 33–26 over the final 20 minutes. McKenna Hill led the Otters with 18 points.

THIS DATE IN OTTER HISTORY: MyKayla Harris pulled down 14 rebounds—the most by any Otter not named Julie Heurung—in a 58–38 loss at Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 6, 2014.

REACHING NEW HIGHS: Sophomore forward McKenna Hill continued to reach new heights for the second consecutive week. After pulling down a career–high 14 rebounds versus Chico State two weeks ago, she capped last week by scoring a career–high 18 points at UC San Diego.

AND A LITTLE ONE SHALL LEAD THEM: She may be the second shortest player on the roster, but sophomore guard Victoria Dorn came up big on the boards Saturday at UC San Diego, leading the team by grabbing a career–high six rebounds against the Tritons.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE: The last time the Otters were at home, they performed the greatest team rebounding weekend in CSUMB history. The Otters recorded a team–record 55 rebounds in the Friday (Jan. 23) win over Stanislaus. They came back to pull down 49 Saturday (Jan. 24) versus Chico State, the No. 8 mark in the Otter record book. The 104 boards are CSUMB's best 2–game total ever.

THE DOUBLE–DOUBLE CLUB: The Otters have tied the school record for most individuals recording double–doubles in a season with four. The mark was set twice, last in 2014 (Mykayla Harris, Holly Holcomb, Ashley Morgan, Alexous Robinson).

JAZMINE FROM THE BLOCK: With three blocks Saturday at UC San Diego—giving her 23 for the season—Jazmine Johnson passed Denisha Profit for both the No. 9 (21 in 2006) and No. 8 (22 in 2007) and Tina Stetson for the No. 7 (22 in 2007) spots on the Otter season list. Johnson is now tied with Holly Holcomb and Brittani Jefferson for No. 5. Julie Heurung set the CSUMB record with 39 in 2011.

OTTERS AMONG THE CCAA LEADERS: The following Otters enter tonight's action ranked among the CCAA leaders: SCORING: No. 7 Jenna Bandy (13.8 ppg); FG%: No. 5 Jazmine Johnson (.538); FT%: No. 1 Jenna Bandy (.917); REBOUNDS: No. 10 Jazmine Johnson (6.7 rpg), No. 11 McKenna Hill (6.6 rpg); ASSISTS: No. 9 Stephanie Sack (3.0 apg); STEALS: No. 5 Jenna Bandy (1.9 spg); BLOCKS: No. 5 Jazmine Johnson (1.2 bpg).

WORKING OVERTIME: With their 63–59 overtime win in the last homestand versus Stanislaus, the Otters improved to 5–3 in overtime games at the NCAA level. It was CSUMB's first overtime win since defeating Sonoma State 64–59 (1 ot) on Dec. 3, 2011. CSUMB has played only two Division II seasons (2006 & 2012) without playing at least one overtime game.
