SAN FRANCISCO – Cal State Monterey Bay opened a four-game CCAA baseball series versus San Francisco State with a 10-2 win over the Gators Friday afternoon at Maloney Field.  The Otters, who jumped on top 6-0 after three innings, pounded out 16 hits.
 
Senior Kaden Kamoe (Aiea, Hawaii/Univ. of Hawaii) doubled and homered to finish 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while junior Brian Hamm (Pleasanton/Chabot College) was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and hit by pitch twice.
 
Michael Lonsdale (Castro Valley/Chabot College), Richie Johnson (San Leandro/SJSU) and Matt Urakami (San Jose/Branham HS) all had two hits apiece for the Otters.  Meanwhile, Otter starter Josh Eagle (Antioch/Chabot College) pitched 7 and two-thirds strong innings to improve to 2-2 on the season.  Eagle allowed two runs on six hits while striking out four and walking one.
 
After Johnson singled in a run in the first, CSUMB added three runs on four hits in the second inning.  Kamoe led off with a high bouncing double down left line, advanced on laid down a perfect bunt for a hit down third base line by Urakami and scored on Devin Finn's (Pleasanton/Amador Valley HS) groundout to second. Hamm with a RBI single and advanced to third on Lonsdale's single up the middle. Senior Mark Hurley (Hollister/College of San Mateo) sent a ball deep to center field for a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0 CSUMB.
 
Kamoe hit CSUMB's third home run of the season, take the ball over the left field wall after Blake Grant-Parks (Yuba City/Sierra College) reached first on a single to right center.
 
Otters added three more run in the sixth inning on five hits after Cannon Bernarding (San Jose/West Valley College) led off the inning with a double on the left field line.
 
After CSUMB nabbed its final run in the next at-bat, SF State got on the board with Matt Vera's sacrifice fly and a RBI single by Grady Espinosa. 
 
The Gators spread out their six hits and their starter Preston Tarter tossed five and one-third innings for the loss.
 
The Otters host SF State in a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8.
