SEASIDE, Calif. – A hush fell over the Otter Sports Complex as
Kaden Kamoe's (Aiea, Hawaii/Univ. of Hawaii) swing made contact and the ball took flight. A few seconds later the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball dugout erupted in celebration as Kamoe's shot cleared the left field wall as the Otters walked off with a 7-4 victory over Fresno Pacific to win the rubber game of the series.
After winning Friday's series opener 2-1 in Fresno, the Otters (13-17) dropped game one of Saturday's doubleheader 11-4 to the Sunbirds.
The Otters resume their CCAA schedule next weekend, hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills in a four-game series starting on Friday, March 28 at 3 p.m.

GAME 1: Fresno Pacific 11, CSUMB 4
The Sunbirds spread 11 runs over five innings to support FPU starter Drew Merlo who went seven innings and only relinquished one run on six hits.
The Otter offense finally got started after two outs in the ninth. Pinch hitter
Chris Blanton (Burlingame HS) reached first after being hit in the back. Senior
Cannon Bernarding (San Jose/West Valley College) singled to down the left line. Junior
Cody Gappa (Corning/Feather River College) doubled to the left corner to score Blanton. Junior
Jared Snow (Riverside/Sierra College) cleared the bases with a triple off the right center wall to raise CSUMB's run total to four.
Six different Otters took the mound in the game with senior
Rickey Guerrero (Stockton/UOP) tossing an impressive two shutout innings, allowing only one hit while striking out two.
GAME 2: CSUMB 7, Fresno Pacific 3 – 8 innings
After suffering three road walk offs this season, the Otters were able to experience what it felt like to be on the other side when Kamoe hit his second home run of the season.
The game featured four lead changes with the Sunbirds taking the lead in the first inning on a Joshua Banuelos' sacrifice fly.
Sophomore
Matt Urakami (San Jose/Branham HS) led off the third inning with a home run that barely cleared the right field wall. Junior
Brian Hamm (Pleasanton/Chabot College) sent the next pitch to right center for a single. Hamm stole second, moved to third on
Mark Hurley's fly out and scored on a fielder's choice by
Travis Bonner (Los Gatos/West Valley College) to give CSUMB a 2-1 lead.
FPU scored in the top of the frames of both the fifth and sixth innings but the Otters answered each time, resulting in a 4-4 tie entering the seventh.
Senior
A.J. Quintero (Vacaville/Sacramento City College) who opened the 2014 season as a starter got to revisit his old role from 2013 as he came in as the closer to earn the win. In two inning of action, he allowed only one hit and struck out two.
