Senior Donny Medlinger broke the school record for striking out opponents looking with 20 this season

Brian Haggett (Hollister, Calif./Sacramento State) went 4-for-6 with a home run as the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team dropped a twinbill to Cal State L.A., 2-0 and 9-2, Friday at the Otter Sports Complex.
The first game was a true pitching duel with CSUMB starter
Donny Medlinger (San Jose, Calif./Cal Poly SLO) giving up only one hit in the first five innings while the Otters racked up four hits off CSULA's Ryan Santhon.
The sixth inning proved costly for Medlinger as he relinquished back-to-back singles before Nick Rodarte homered over right field, his third of the series.
The Otters loaded the bases with three consecutive singles in the ninth but were unable to score to prevent the shutout, their first of the season.
Medlinger broke the CSUMB single season record for striking out batters looking with 20 and is 13 away from passing Grayson Adams (2007) for the overall strike out record.
In game two, the Otters found themselves in the hole 6-1 after two innings of play. CSULA's batting leader Daniel Duran hit a two run homer to highlight the second inning.
Haggett homered to lead off the fifth inning, for a team-leading third of the season.

Aaron Appino (Rancho Codova, Calif./Sacramento CC) struggled on the mound for CSUMB, allowed six runs in two innings for his second loss of the year.

Jared DeCastro (Torrance, Calif./L.A. Harbor College) recorded three hits with a walk and a run on the day.
The Otters conclude its four-game series against Cal State L.A. on Saturday at 11 a.m.
