SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team walks off with a dramatic 6-5 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills to take their last home series of the season.

"Today was a great win in front of so many close friends and family of our program," said CSUMB Head Coach Walt White. "I am proud of how we stayed composed and continued to compete, even when things were not going our way."

Junior Tommy George (Elk Grove HS) went 2-for-3, extending his season hit streak in the fourth inning to 18 passing Matt DeJesus (2007). With two stolen bases, George became CSUMB's season record holder with 21 this season.

Cal State Dominguez Hills found themselves an early lead after earning two runs in the first.  The teams matched each other with one run apiece in the second. CSUMB evented it up in the bottom of the third with two runs off of junior Jason Merjano's (San Ramon, Calif./Sierra College) RBI single through the right side.

George's RBI double gave the CSUMB squad their first lead of the game, 4-3, in the fourth inning.

The visiting Toros responded in the top of the eighth with Devon Ramirez 2 RBI single to make it an even 5-5.

CSUMB took the victory off of junior David Garcia's (Gilroy, Calif./Mission College) medium depth fly ball, as George raced home and evaded the tag.

The Toros were led by Allen, Rodela, and Ramirez with two hits apiece.

Junior Jacob Crose (Simi Valley HS) tossed a solid for two and two thirds innings in relief.  Junior Jake Paolinetti (Santa Clara, Calif./San Jose City College) took the win after entering the top of the ninth with two outs and forcing a groundout to end the side.

With the win, the Otters secure their first winning season in program history to bring their overall record to 25-21.

"Our program has come so far in such a short time and thanks to our seniors in walk off fashion is a great ending to a successful home stand," White said. "So much of our success is because of this graduating class, their commitment to our program and all of the supporters that care for and follow Otter Baseball."

The Otters are heading into a bye weekend before they travel to Sonoma State to finish out regular season play. The series begins Friday, May 5 in Rohnert Park.
