Volleyball Game Notes No. 4 

THIS WEEK: The Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team has a jammed packed week with three matches on the road.  Luckily, they are all matches in Northern California.  The Otters will face Bay rival Cal State East Bay tonight at 7 p.m. in Hayward.  The Wildcats of Chico State and the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors square off against each other on Wednesday before facing the Otters this weekend. 

LOOKING AHEAD: CSUMB return home on Friday, Sept. 7 to host No. 12 UC San Diego followed by a match-up against No. 3 Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Sept. 8. 

NCAA DIG LEADER: CSUMB remains in the Top 5 in the nation in digs, averaging 19.34 per set for a fourth spot ranking.  Senior Melanie Lashbrook is ranked 22nd in kills per set (4.0), 21st in points per set (4.69) and 28th in hitting percentage (.372).  Senior All-American Rheann Fall broke into the Top 40 with a 35th ranking, averaging 3.81 per set.

ADDING ANOTHER RECORD:  Senior All-American outside hitter Rheann Fall is the new CSUMB service ace career record holder. Fall racked up three aces against San Francisco State on Sept. 23 to propel herself past 2007 grad Brittany Etchings. Fall is now on the hunt to become the CSUMB kill record holder.  She is 36 kills away from tying Etchings.

SCOUTING CAL STATE EAST BAY: The Pioneers (7-3, 3-3 CCAA) split their matches last weekend, recording a four-set victory over Cal Poly Pomona only to be swept by San Francisco State on Saturday. Top Players: Nicole Boyle (102 kills, 166 digs) and Kitona Offord (95 kills, 30 blocks)

SCOUTING CHICO STATE: The Wildcats (9-3, 2-4 CCAA) pulled off a five-set upset over No. 10 UC San Diego on Saturday night after being swept by No.3 Cal State San Bernardino the night before.  Top Players: Makenzie Snyder (143 kills, 22 aces) and Jessica Leek (130 kills, 18 aces).

SCOUTING CAL STATE STANISLAUS: The Warriors (6-4, 2-4 CCAA) are on a three-match losing streak and are tied with the Otters in the CCAA standings. Top Player: Lianne Vicchio (129 kills, 130 digs).
