EUREKA, Calif.- The Cal State Monterey Bay cross country program traveled north to Humboldt State to participate in the Invitational at Patrick's Point. Both teams saw top placements with the women finishing second, and the men taking third.
"We had a great showing today," says Head Coach
Greg Rhines. "The women's team has never placed higher than another CCAA team, until today."
For the past two weekends,
Piper Delaney (Medford,OR/Boise State) has lead the women's team with top place finishes. Delaney saw a sixth place finish with a final time of 22:37.36, to finish only behind Chico States top individuals.
"The men's team had their best day today. All had personal bests yet again."
The men saw a top finish with
Cameron Cruse (Seaside/MPC) leading for the second weekend in a row. Cruse improved his time from last weekend by 23 seconds, having a 21
st place finish with a final time of 27:00.63. Cruse was not the only Otter to see an improvement from last weekends season opener. Cruse was joined by eight other Otters that saw an improvement in their personal times leading them to a third place finish out of seven teams participating.
"We are being remembered a little more with each race. We are getting closer."
The Otters will have a weekend off before heading up to Stanford to participate in the Stanford Invitational Sept. 24.
