CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team won its 20th game of the season, breaking a program record, with a 4-3 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills in the nightcap of today's doubleheader. The Otters fell 8-1 in the first game.
The Otters improve to 20-28 overall and 17-22 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action.
Junior
Jared DeCastro led the Otters, going 4-for-6 with one run while driving in two runs on the day. Sophomore
Nolan Murray recorded two hits with one being a double.
Junior right-hander
Jake Paolinetti picked up his seventh win of the season after just two-thirds of work. Paolinetti holds the single season record for wins for the Otters.
The Otters will see their record-breaking season come to an end on Sunday, May 8 with a single nine-inning game. First pitch is 11 a.m.

Despite racking up six hits, the Otters were only able to score one run which came in their first at-bat. After leading off with a single, senior
Greg Fujii moved two bases on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. DeCastro drove him in on a single to right field.
CSUDH answered with a three-run homer by Jonathan Kenner and Kevin Pillar's two-run home run in the first and second innings.
The Toros continued to add to their lead with a run in the third inning followed by two runs in the fifth.
CSUDH's Josh Corrales improved to 6-2 on the year after allowing only three hits and one run in seven innings. Taking the loss,
Jacob Crose gave up seven runs on seven hits.
Game 2: CSUMB 4, CSUDH 3

Tommy George advanced to third on DeCastro's single then scored on a wild pitch. The Otters loaded the bases when junior
Chris Lopiccolo reached first on an error and junior
Randall Packard was hit by a pitch. Despite sophomore
Tyler Young hitting into a fielder's choice double play, DeCastro was able to score to give CSUMB a 2-0 lead.
CSUDH's Matt Faigh hit a 2 RBI single to knot the game in the fourth inning.
The Otters regained the lead in the sixth inning when Young drove in senior
Ron Duer who was pinch running for LoPiccolo.
Once again, the Toros evened the score in their next at-bat. Pond connected on a sacrifice fly to plate Pillar.
In the seventh inning, DeCastro came through with the game-winning single to score George.
