Otters Drop Two In Hayward

HAYWARD, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team dropped a twinbill to Cal State East Bay on Saturday with a final scores of 7-6 and 3-0.

The Otters drop to 12-14 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and 15-20 overall while the Pioneers moved to 11-24 in conference, 13-29 for the season.

Junior #Randall Packard# led the Otters with three hits for the day while senior #Greg Fujii# and sophomores #Tommy George# and #Ronnie Fhurong# each notched a pair of hits.

The four-game series concludes on Sunday, April 17 with an 11 a.m. first pitch at Otter Baseball Field.

With four lead changes, the Otters got on the board in their first chance with Packard's RBI double to left field which scored Fhurong who drew a walk.

The Pioneers evened the score on a ground out in the fifth inning.

CSUMB put up four runs in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by junior #Danny Nelson#, a 2 RBI double from Packard and junior #Chris Lopiccolo#'s single.

Cal State East Bay took its first lead of the game with five unearned run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Otters tied the game once again in the next inning on Fhurong's grounder that plated sophomore Tony Hernandez.

The Pioneers won the game on Charlie Sharrer's sacrifice fly that scored Jake Davis who led off the inning with a single.  

Sophomore #Austin Thiel# took the loss while East Bay's Zachary Wong picked up his second win of the season.

The Otters were only in scoring position twice with Fhurung reaching third in the sixth inning and George at second in the seventh.

Cal State East Bay's Bell threw his second shutout of the season to pick up his fourth victory.  Junior #Aaron Appino# gave up one earned run in six inning in the loss.
