SEASIDE, Calif. – Senior defensive specialist #Katie Bos# recorded her 1,000th career dig. Four Cal State Monterey Bay players were in double-figures in kills and two had double-doubles. The team racked up nine aces on top of scoring the most points in school history in the first set. Yet, despite its successes, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team dropped a five-set battle with the Wildcats of Chico State, 38-36, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-8 on Saturday night at the Otter Sports Center.
Bos, who enter the match needing just one dig to break the milestone, finished with 13 along with sophomore #Dionna Lucas#. Sophomore #Rheann Fall# led the Otters with 24 kills and 14 digs. Junior #Dana Grimm# also recorded 14 digs along with dishing out 34 assists. Senior #Elizabeth Hanna# notched 11 kills and hit .375 with senior #Kerri Sudarsana# and #Lauren Shacklock# adding 12 and 11 kills respectively.
Gillian Heydorff and Makenzie Snyder led the Wildcats by each recording double-doubles. Heydorff finished with 28 kills and 22 digs with Snyder adding 25 kills and 20 digs.
The Otters (5-4, 1-1 CCAA) return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 15, to welcome San Francisco State to the Kelp Bed. First serve is 7 p.m.
