Otters Midpack Through 36 In Colorado

CSUMB places three in Top 25 after two rounds

MONTROSE, Colo. — Five of Cal State Monterey Bay's seven golfers posted at least one subpar round Monday as the Otters placed themselves right in the middle of the pack following the first two rounds of the San Juan Intercollegiate at Bridges Golf and Country Club.

Cal Baptist transfer Derek Lekkerkerk (Twin Falls, Id.) posted CSUMB's lowest scoring round with a 3-under in the afternoon. Freshman Zach Easterling (Clovis West HS) shot the low morning round for the Otters by going 2-under.

Also using the red pen for CSUMB Monday morning were sophomores Ben Christian (Dexter [Mo.] Senior HS) and Zaid Khan (Sacramento/CMASAS) and freshman Tintin Wallin (Kungsangen, Sweden), each of whom went 1-under. Senior Alex Cooke (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) added a 1-under in the afternoon round.

Wallin and Christian each scored eagles Monday. Wallin carded a three on the par-5 first hole to open the day while Christian's came on the par-5 ninth in round two.

Lekkerkerk (2-under, 20th), Easterling (1-under, 21st) and Cooke (even, 24th) all found spots in the individual Top 25. Brady Mulder and Lance Christensen of host Colorado Christian lead the 75-player field at 10-under through 36 holes.

CSUMB enters the final round in seventh place at 2-under. Colorado Christian is running away from the 13-team field at minus-27.
