AZUSA – In just her second season with the Otters,
Rachel Hoops shattered her own school record by clocking a 2:10.97 in the 800m to eclipse the NCAA qualifying standard in the grueling event. Hoops joined multiple Otters that shattered personal bests at the Bryan Clay Invitational held at Cougar Stadium, hosted by Azusa Pacific.
"Big personal bests today," head coach
Greg Rhines said. "I'm so happy for the student-athletes, this is never an easy task. Tomorrow will bring more good news."
On top of the record-breaking performance by Hoops,
Daniela Munguia and
Angeline Gutierrez broke 18-minutes in the 5,000m for the first time in a big way as Munguia clocked a 17:41.81 and Gutierrez crossed the line at 17:48.69.
The Otters will continue their split weekend tomorrow with the final day of competition at both the Bryan Clay and the Leopard Invitational.
