MARYSVILLE, Calif. — The Otters finished the day where they started while senior Colin Huang (Corona Del Mar HS) earned a Top 10 finish to highlight the Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf final round at the Chico State Wildcat Classic Tuesday at the Peach Tree Golf and Country Club.

Huang finished alone in 10th place for his third Top 10 finish in six starts as an Otter. He followed his second-round 68 with a 69 (-3) Tuesday to earn his spot.

Freshman Kash Cantrell (Benton, Ill./Benton Consolidated HS), playing as an individual, just missed a Top 10 finish of his own in his first collegiate tournament by placing 11th at 7-under 209. He matched Huang's final round with a 69, his third consecutive round under par.

"Kash had a great first tournament, especially considering how sick he is," said CSUMB Head Coach Jason Owen. "Colin did what I expect Colin to do. He didn't have his 'A' game but he put up a very respectable finish."

Sophomore Nick Savano (Windsor HS) followed a 70 Monday afternoon with an even-par 72 Tuesday. He and junior Alex Cooke (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) (73) finished tied for 33rd at even par for the tournament.

Sophomore Simon Germain (Lyon, France) carded CSUMB's final scoring round Tuesday with a 74.

Junior George Goff (Orlando, Fla./Northstar Academy) equaled the efforts of Savano and Cooke to earn a share of 33rd place. Five of CSUMB's nine entrants finished in the top half of the 86-golfer field.

The Otters finished sixth of 14 teams on the composite leaderboard. They sandwiched a second-round score of 8-under between a pair of par rounds. Host Chico State won the tournament going away at 41-under.

"After graduating five seniors and almost completely turning over the roster I expected a rough start, and unfortunately I was correct," said Owen. "I can tell we have some amazing talent and, by this spring, I expect them to battle at the top each week. I'm already looking forward to the next trip."

The Otters will take a week off from competition before returning to action Sept. 29-30 at the Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham.
