Alcayaga, Alba Named CSC Academic All-District

Duo earns the recognition for second consecutive season

May 30, 2025

SEASIDE, Calif. — Seniors Ally Alcayaga (Sonoma Valley HS) and Anastacia Alba (Watsonville HS) earned spots on the Academic All-District team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. It marks the third time Alcayaga has won the award and the second nod for Alba.

Alcayaga will advance to the Academic All-America® ballot. That team will be released on June 17.

These mark the 16th and 17th Academic All-District awards won by CSUMB softball players. Alcayaga and Alba join Cori Reinhardt as the only Otter softball players to earn the honor more than once. Alcayaga and Reinhardt are the only ones to win it three times.

In order to be nominated for Academic All-District or Academic All-America® consideration, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.50 grade point average and compete in at least 90 percent of a team's contests or start at least 66 percent of them.

Alcayaga earned her spot academically with a 3.65 GPA as a kinesiology graduate. She finished the season ranked third in the CCAA in home runs (9), fourth in slugging (.606) and eighth in OPS (.980). She ends her Otter career ranked in the CSUMB Top 10 in 10 statistical categories, including homers (3rd), slugging (5th), doubles (7th) and RBI (9th).

Alba earned her degree in business administration with a 3.72 GPA. In 2025, she finished second on the team in batting average (.329), runs (26) and hits (46) while finishing third in doubles (4) and home runs (4). She earned All-CCAA honors for her efforts on the field.
