2025 Men's Golf All-Region

Björken Leads Trio of Otters On PING All-Region Team

Senior Swede becomes second Otter golfer ever to earn four all-region awards

May 14, 2025

SEASIDE, Calif. — Simon Björken became the second golfer in Cal State Monterey Bay history to be named all-region four times as he led a trio of Otters on the PING/NCAA Division II All-Region men's golf team selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America Wednesday.

Joining Björken on the all-region first team were senior Wilhelm Berg von Linde and junior Colin Huang.

The awards are the 35th through 37th PING/GCAA all-region awards won by the Otters since moving to the NCAA Division II level for golf in 2005. It marks the sixth time in the last 12 seasons CSUMB has placed at least three golfers on the all-region teams.

Björken joins Elis Svard (2017–20) as they only players in CSUMB's storied men's golf history to earn all-region honors four times. The 2025 CCAA Player of the Year led CSUMB with a 71.29 stroke average and five Top 10 finishes, including a victory at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational.

Berg von Linde earned all-region honors for the second time in as many seasons after averaging par over 31 rounds in 2025. He claimed three Top 10 finishes as a senior, including a season-best fifth place finish at The Hanny.

Huang earned all-region recognition for the second time in his collegiate career, but the first as an Otter after transferring from Sonoma State. Huang, who joined the team in January, earned three Top 10 finishes in five starts as an Otter and seven in nine starts overall. He finished the season with a 71.9 stroke average.

CSUMB concluded its 2024-25 campaign last week with an eighth place finish at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional.
