FINAL RESULTS

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — A late round rally by Midwestern (Texas) State and West Texas A&M dropped Cal State Monterey Bay to an eighth-place finish, one spot out of at trip to the NCAA Championship Saturday at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional Championship Tournament at the Victoria Club.

The Otters appeared to be in good shape when a Colin Huang (Newport Harbor HS) eagle helped them play the 15th hole at 4-under to get to 18 under for the tournament. But they played the final three holes 4-over while West Texas finished the stretch run at 5-under to rally past CSUMB for the final qualifying spot.

Huang was the lone Otter to finish in the red Saturday at 1-under 71, good for a 38th place finish. Wilhelm Berg von Linde finished the final round at even par to place 28th, the top finish by an Otter at the regional. Jack Deaner (Carmichael/Jesuit HS) went 2-over and matched Berg von Linde's 28th place finish.

Liam Allder (Sundsvall, Sweden) and Tommy Kimberling (Rancho Cucamonga/Los Osos HS) closed the Otter scoreline Saturday with a pair of 73s. Allder finished in 46th place, one of four Otters to claim a spot in the top half of the 105-player field.

Top-ranked Colorado Christian won the regional title going away with a 14-stroke victory over runner-up Oklahoma Christian. Cal State East Bay, Saint Mary (Texas), Cal State San Bernardino and West Texas A&M were the other teams qualifying for the NCAA Championship Tournament
