Otters Complete Busy Weekend Up North

CSUMB competed at Stanford and San Francisco

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay track & field team were represented at two meets this weekend as the Otters competed at the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Classic.
 
"This PR train just keeps on rolling," head coach Greg Rhines said. "Another amazing three days, beginning with big performances in the 10k and ending with new records in the DMR. Let's see what happens at Mathis."
 
STANFORD
 
Senior Taylar Yost was the lone representative for the Otters as she competed in the 400m hurdles on the Cobb Track.
 
Yost posted a season-best 65.55 to place 21st overall.
 
MIKE FANELLI
 
Jaime Gonzalez highlighted the first evening of the Mike Fanelli Classic with a huge personal best in the 10,000m with a time of 31:13.78. Gonzalez has hit a PR in his respective events in three straight meets. The senior also clocked a 14:54.91 in the 5,000m.
 
On day two, Cozette Wood was the one to hit the big PR, surpassing her previous best in the steeple by 15 seconds, clocking a 11:25.26. Newcomer Hannah Amundsen closely followed with a PR of 11:32.93.
 
On day three, freshman Rachel Hoops continued her stellar season at the collegiate ranks, clocking another PR in the 800m with a time of 2:13.58. She also ran a 4:50.27 in the 1,500m. In just her second time running the 800m, Cassidy Andreadakis posted a CCAA qualifier with a time of 2:20.54.
 
In the men's 800m, Erik Bromley also hit a PR once again in the 800m, crossing the line at 1:54.31. Cameron Cornforth (1:58.86) and Hanival Osorio-Martinez (1:59.27) also broke 2-minutes. Bromley also clocked a 3:57.47 in the 1,500m.
 
CSUMB closed out the meet in record-breaking fashion by running a 12:41.98 in the distance medley relay. The men won their section by posting a 10:31.46.
 
The Otters will also compete in two meets on the next weekend as they head back to San Francisco for the Johnny Mathis Invite and a small contingency will go to the prestigious Mt. SAC Invite.
