Berg von Linde, Huang, join Björken on All-CCAA team

April 29, 2025

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay senior Simon Björken (Hudiksval, Sweden) led a strong Otter contingent on the All-CCAA Men's Golf Team by being named the league's Golfer of the Year for 2024–25.

Joining Björken on the All-CCAA first team was fellow senior Wilhelm Berg von Linde (Stockholm, Sweden). Junior Colin Huang (Corona Del Mar HS), a midseason transfer from Sonoma State, was an honorable mention selection after earning first team recognition as a sophomore.

"I'm super excited that Simon was recognized by the coaches of the CCAA as the player of the year," said CSUMB Head Coach Jason Owen. "The young man works incredibly hard and is very good at his craft."

Björken, the 2022 CCAA Freshman of the Year, becomes the third Otter to win the award and the first since Elis Svard in 2020. He finished the regular season with a 70.88 stroke average and five top 10 finishes. He took medalist honors at the Sonoma State Invitational last month.

Berg von Linde was one of three Otters to start every tournament for CSUMB this season, earning a pair of top 10 finishes with a 72.28 stroke average. He finished a team-best sixth at last week's CCAA Championship Tournament, leading the Otters to second place overall.

Huang claimed a pair of top 10 finishes in three events as an Otter, including a fifth place finish at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational. He finished in the Top 10 in all four of his fall events while at Sonoma State, including a season-best fourth place finish at the Southwest Airlines HPU Shark Shootout in October.

The Otters will continue their season May 8–10 at the NCAA Division II West Regional Championship Tournament in Riverside. CSUMB will be looking to qualify for the NCAA National Championship Tournament for the ninth time in its last 14 seasons.
