Allder Earns Top 10 Finish In Florida

Liam Allder finishes 8th, Otters finish 6th

February 11, 2025

LAKELAND, Fla. — Cal State Monterey Bay senior Liam Allder (Sundsvall, Sweden) shot even par 72 Tuesday to earn an eighth place finish at the Matlock Collegiate Classic Tuesday at Lone Palm Golf Course.

Fellow senior Swede Wilhelm Berg von Linde (Stockholm) also carded a final round 72, helping the No. 21 ranked Otters to a sixth place finish in a 15-team field that featured eight nationally-ranked teams.

Allder and Berg von Linde took unusual routes to their 72s. Allder's round that featured an eagle and five birdies but also five bogeys and a double. Berg von Linde matched three bogeys with three birdies.

Simon Björken (Stockholm, Sweden) shot 2-over 74 and Colin Huang (Newport Beach/Sonoma State) shot 6-over to account for CSUMB's other scoring rounds Tuesday.

The Otters finished with a final round 296 (+8) on a day when only four teams posted red numbers. Fifth-ranked West Florida pulled away with a 10-under 278 to earn an 11-stroke victory over runner-up and host Florida Southern.

Florida Southern's Colton Swartz went 5-under 67 Tuesday to finish at 13-under for the tournament, two better than runner-up Per Eklund of West Florida. Allder tied for eighth at 4-under 212.

"This team was very excited to travel to the Southeast to face some of the best competition in Division II," said CSUMB Head Coach Jason Owen. "So now the question remains, how will they react to getting beaten badly?  We certainly have the talent to win each week, but we need to develop the attitude to match."

CSUMB will take next week off from competition before heading south for consecutive tournaments in the desert, starting Feb. 24 at the Battle in the Desert at Rams Hill Golf Course in Borrego Springs.
