SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay track & field team competed at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Golden Eagle Invitational this weekend.
"This was a good last tune up meet before the CCAA's," head coach
Greg Rhines said. "Though the weather wasn't ideal, the student-athletes stepped up and gave strong performances, and two more made it to conference. We are looking forward to the CCAA's!"
Taylar Yost hit a qualifying mark in the 100m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 16.29. She also placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a 1:06.25.
Carly Zahrt posted a personal best time of 4:54.15 to win the 1,500m and punch her ticket to the conference meet.
Kayla Young closely followed with a PR of 4:55.71. The Otters finished 1-4 in the event.
CSUMB also went 1-4 in the steeple as
Lisa Irvine won the race with a 11:51.16.
On the men's side,
Cameron Cornforth notched a CCAA qualifying time by winning the 1,500m with a 4:08.97. The Otters went 1-3 in the event. Cornforth also placed seventh in the 800m with a 2:06.40.
At the 64
th Annual Mt. SAC Relays,
Mackenzie Caprino clocked a qualifier in the steeple with a time of 11:44.62.
Connor Farrow also qualified in the 5,000m, running a 15:17.01.
CSUMB will compete at the CCAA Championships. The four-day meet will begin on Thursday, May 2.
