Deaner Leads Otters In Regular Season Finale

Jack Deaner finishes 14th at NCAA Regional Preview

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — Sophomore Jack Deaner (Carmichael/Jesuit HS) finished 14th overall to pace Cal State Monterey Bay at the NCAA West Regional Preview Tuesday at Foxtail Golf Course.

Deaner and Simon Björken (Hudiksval, Sweden) both shot even-par 72 in Tuesday's final round. Liam Allder (Sundsvall, Sweden) led the Otters Tuesday with a 1–under 71. Tommy Kimberling (Rancho Cucamonga/Los Osos HS) closed the scoreline with a 77.

Deaner, who carded a 69 in the second round Monday afternoon, finished at 1–over 217 for the tournament. Allder and Björken also finished in the top half of the 115-player field, tying for 41st at 223.

As a team, the 38th ranked Otters placed 12th amongst 21 teams, earning key regional wins over No. 10 Colorado State Pueblo and No. 37 Simon Fraser University. No. 26 Cal State San Marcos earned the team title, besting host and No. 19 Sonoma State by 10 strokes.

The Otters begin postseason play next week when they head to the Inland Empire for the CCAA Championship Tournament Apr. 17–19 at the Victoria Club. CSUMB is a 4–time CCAA Champion, last taking the title in 2019.
