STANFORD, CALIF. – It was another successful meet for the Otters track program as they traveled north to Stanford University for the Cardinal Classic.
The Otters competed in 10 events, with Mina Tsai (San Jose/Santa Teresa HS) breaking the program 400m record and Taylar Yost (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield HS) breaking the 400m hurdles record.
In total, 16 Otters competed at the event, as the team continues to gear up for the CCAA Conference Meet.
A BUSY DAY FOR TSAI… Mina Tsai ran in all three sprint events at the meet, putting together solid times in all three. Her day began with the 400m race, where she ran a program record time of 59.35. It was Mina's first time running this distance in under a minute, as she broke a record previously held by Allison Crowley, set back in 2018. She now holds the eighth fastest 400m time in the CCAA this season. Tsai followed that up with a 12.65 second 100m dash, good for the fifth fastest in program history, and the second fastest in her Otter career. In her final race of the day, Tsai threw down a 26.02 second 200m, good for third fastest in program history.
MORE SUCCESS FOR YOST… Taylar Yost competed in both hurdle events today, and smashed the program record for the 400 hurdles. Her time of 1:05.70 beat her previous program record by nearly two seconds. She now holds the fifth fastest time in 400 hurdles in the CCAA this season.
KEITH AND BERGANIO SHOW OUT… Ali Keith and Angelee Berganio also had strong days at the Cardinal Classic. Keith led a group of five Otters in the 1500m with a time of 4:54.93, a new PR. Berganio and Keith paced a group of six Otters in the 800m. Berganio's time of 2:19.91 was the fastest run by an Otter this season as well as a new PR, while Keith's 2:30.15 was also a new PR.
