Ferguson Leads Three Otters On All–CCAA Teams

Junior center named first Otter first teamer since 2016

March 02, 2022

SEASIDE, Calif. — Junior post player Andrew Ferguson (Perth, Western Australia) earned first team honors to lead three Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball players on the 2022 All–CCAA teams.

In addition to Ferguson, junior guard Levi Frankland (Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia) and senior guard Jordan May (Troutdale, Ore./Reynolds HS) were named to the All–CCAA second team. It's the first time three Otters have been named to the first and second teams in one year since D'Shon Cannon (1st), Augie Johnston and Joe Mitchell (2nd) were so honored in 2008.

"It really means a lot for the Monterey Bay basketball program to have three of our guys recognized as All–CCAA," says CSUMB Head Coach Isaac Williams. "Andrew, Jordan and Levi are really accomplished players and have played a huge part in elevating this team. More importantly, they are amazing people who have bright futures. I'm looking forward to being right there to follow their future successes. All three will always be family to me."

Ferguson enters the postseason and the No. 3 player in the CCAA in both rebounding (8.2 rpg) and blocks (1.1 bpg) while averaging 10.2 points per night. He has recorded seven of CSUMB's 10 double–doubles this season, leading the Otters in scoring three times and in rebounding 12 times in 20 appearances.

May, whom Williams originally recruited to play as a freshman at Eastern Oregon, is a bit of a unicorn in that he now has earned all–league recognition from three different conference during his collegiate career. He was an All–Cascade Conference selection as a freshman and sophomore at EOU and an All–PacWest Conference performer at Point Loma Nazarene in 2020.

May leads the balanced Otter offense in scoring at 13.2 ppg (No. 14 CCAA). He is also one of the league's top 3–point (.362) and free throw (.875) shooters entering the postseason.

Frankland has been a dynamic addition to the Otter attack, scoring in double figures 12 times in his first season at CSUMB. Included in that dozen is a career–high 31 points in a Dec. 11 win over Cal State L.A., the most points by an Otter this season.

CSUMB's All–CCAA triumvirate will lead the Otters into the postseason Thursday night when the No. 4 seed Otters take on No. 5 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills in the CCAA Championship Tournament Quarterfinals at Lumberjack Arena in Arcata.
