SEASIDE, Calif — Following standard California Collegiate Athletic Assocition COVID protocols, Cal State Monterey Bay has cancelled its scheduled home volleyball matches versus Cal State L.A. (Sept. 24) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (Sept. 25). The matches will not be rescheduled.
"Our focus right now is on the health and well being of our Otter student-athletes. Having to cancel events is always difficult, especially after the year away from competition that we endured, but it is the correct decision," says CSUMB Director of Athletics
Kirby Garry (@kirbygarry). "I feel bad for our volleyball program, especially considering the diligence the team has shown in complying with COVID vaccination and safety protocols. We will work hard to come back from this and continue to provide all Otters student-athletes with a safe and competitive environment."
Per NCAA regulations, the matches will not be counted on CSUMB's overall record. Per CCAA regulations, the contests will be counted as losses for CSUMB and wins for its opponents in the league standings. Thus, CSUMB will end the weekend 7–3 overall and 1–3 in CCAA play.
