Greg Steinbeck Earns CCAA Pitcher of the Week Award

Conference rewards strong outing in CSUMB’s win over No. 13 Azusa Pacific

SEASIDE, Calif. — The California Collegiate Athletic Association rewarded a strong outing by Cal State Monterey Bay senior hurler Greg Steinbeck (San Benito HS) by naming him the CCAA Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Feb. 9.

It's the first pitcher of the week award for Steinbeck and the first for an Otter since Ethan McRae was so honored for the week ending Mar. 31, 2019.

Steinbeck was stellar in his start against No. 13 Azusa Pacific University last week. He allowed just one run on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter.

Although Steinbeck was not credited with the win, the Otters went on to the 4–3 victory as part of their big 3–game sweep of Azusa Pacific.

CSUMB (3–3 overall) hits the road to open conference play this weekend with a 4–game series at Cal State L.A. The action begins Friday (Feb. 14) with a 6 p.m. first pitch at Reeder Field.
