Otters Returning To Azusa For NCAA West Regional

No. 4 seed CSUMB will face No. 5 seed Cal Poly Pomona in opening round

SEASIDE, Calif. — For the second consecutive season and the third time in the last four, Cal State Monterey Bay will advance to the NCAA Baseball Tournament when it heads to Azusa Pacific as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA West Regional Championship Tournament.

CSUMB (35–21, No. 21 nationally) will play No. 5 seed Cal Poly Pomona (29–26) Thursday, May 16 at Azusa Pacific University to open play a the 3–team, double–elimination tournament. No. 1 seed APU (36–13) will face the loser of that game Friday. The tournament continues through Saturday.

In 2019, for the first time, the NCAA West Regional is split into two 3–team subregionals. The other regional will included No. 2 seed UC San Diego, No. 3 seed Point Loma University and No. 6 seed Montana State Billings.

The winners of the two subregionals will meet in the West Super Regional May 24–25, a best–of–three battle hosted on the site of one of the participants.
