Brian Morley Named CCAA, West Region Player of the Week

Otter first baseman has five extra–base hits, drives in 13 in sweep of Cal State L.A.

SEASIDE, Calif. — Brian Morley's (Carmichael/Jesuit HS) monster weekend not only led Cal State Monterey Bay to a sweep of Cal State L.A., it earned the senior first baseman CCAA and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association West Region Player of the Week honors for the week ending Feb. 24.

Morley led CSUMB to a 4–game sweep of the Golden Eagles by batting .643 (9–for–14) while slugging 1.357 with six runs and 13 RBI. Five of his nine hits went for extra bases, including a pair of home runs, two doubles and a triple. He also drew four walks.

For the season, the Old Dominion University transfer leads CSUMB with a .412 batting average, 15 RBI and 33 total bases. He has reached base safely in 12 of CSUMB's 14 games this season.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The defending CCAA Champion Otters (8–6 overall, 6–2 CCAA) head to Chico for a 4–game series against perennial contender Chico State Mar. 1–3.
