SEASIDE, Calif. — One of the best starts in Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball history is manifesting itself on the stats ledger as the Otters have jumped into the NCAA Division II Top 10 for attack percentage at .280 entering this week's action. It's one of several areas in which the Otters rank among the national leaders.
Of course, CSUMB's record–setting attack percentage has taken center stage as the season is well past the quarter pole. The Otters lead the CCAA and rank No. 9 nationally at .280, a mark 64 points above their school record of .216 set during the 2013 season.
The Otters check in amongst the nation's Top 25 in three other categories: Service Aces (No. 22, 2.13 per set); Kills (No. 22, 13.91 per set) and Assists (No. 24, 12.97 per set).
CSUMB's statistical success has truly been a team effort. No one Otter ranks higher than No. 49 nationally.
Erica Chapa (San Benito HS/Gavilan College) holds that spot amongst the amongst the national assists leaders (10.44 aps). In terms of attack percentage, junior
Chandler McKean (Visalia/Redwood HS) is No. 50 at .364.
The Otters return to action this weekend when they head to Southern California to face Cal Poly Pomona (Sept. 22) and No. 16 Cal State San Bernardino (Sept. 23). CSUMB returns home to open a 3–match homestand by hosting Cal State East Bay Sept. 29.
