SEASIDE, CALIF.—The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team will get its first taste of home cooking this week when it beings a 3-game homestand by hosting Pac West Conference rival Norte Dame de Namur Wednesday (Nov. 16). Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The short-handed Otters opened the season with a pair of close losses at the GNAC/CCAA Challenge in Oregon last weekend. They're hoping to get the Keld Bed boost they need by returning to the build where they've gone 58–36 (.617) since 2010.
Fans who can't make it to The Kelp Bed can watch all Otter home games online at

Corey Neal will call Wednesday's game live from courtside.
ARGONAUT 3–DOT NOTES (0–2, 0–0 PWC): NDNU had a tough opening weekend at home, dropping games to CCAA rivals Sonoma State (88–67) and Chico State (59–44)…struggled shooting the ball (28.8 pct.) but did a reasonable job taking care of it (27 assists, 33 turnovers)…So./F Jerusha Paine averaged 16.0 ppg, including a team season–high 19 vs. Sonoma…Sr./F Emily Tevez adds 11.5 ppg and a team–best 7.0 rpg.
WHEN LAST WE MET: The Otters earned their biggest win in the series with NDNU by defeating the Argonauts 67–45 at the East Bay Thanksgiving Challenge last November in Hayward.
McKenna Hill led all scorers with 18 points for MB.
Rachel Amerine added an 11–point, 10–rebound double–double. Jerusha Paine had 13 points and eight rebounds for NDNU.
WHEN LAST WE PLAYED: The Otters played Central Washington down to the wire before four free throws in the final 11 seconds sealed a 55–48 win for the Wildcats.
Victoria Dorn led the Otters with 16 points, including four 3–pointers.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Central Washington didn't put this one away until Jonnae Richardson hit a pair of free throws with six seconds remaining to make it 55–48.
NEW FEATURE: STATISTICALLY OVER… You'll notice a new feature in the CSUMB notebooks (and postgame recaps) called,
The Game Was Statistically Over When…. This uses a formula created by famed sabermatician Bill James to calculate the precise second at which one team gained a lead which (statistically) could not be overcome.
THIS DATE IN OTTER HISTORY: The Otters enter Wednesday's game on a 3–game Nov. 16th winning streak. Included in that run is a 61–44 win over NDNU that opened the 2013–14 season. No Otters remain from that team.
FOR (HOME) OPENERS: The Otters are 3–0 in home openers under
Kerri Nakamoto. The Otters have won 10 consecutive home openers dating back to the 2006–07 season. They are 10–2 in home openers at the NCAA Division II level.
CENTURY CLUB NEARS: With four more 3–pointers in her ledger following Saturday's game vs. Central Washington,
Victoria Dorn now has 97 career 3–point field goals. She currently sits No. 3 on the CSUMB all–time list. She is looking to join Dana Andrews (178) and Holly Holcomb (102) amongst the only Otters ever to reach 100 career treys.
QUADRUPLE CENTURY CLUB JOINED: With 25 points last weekend,
Victoria Dorn become the 19th player in Otter history to surpass 400 career points. She now sits No. 17 on the CSUMB career list with 414 points.
ON THE REBOUND: While firmly ensconced in the No. 3 spot on the Otter career scoring chart (740 points),
McKenna Hill is also making her way up the Otter career rebounding chart, entering this week's games at No. 5 on that list with 425. She needs 19 more to catch Brittani Jefferson (444) for the No. 4 spot. Krista Herr (2005–08) owns the Otter record with 643.
THE DEFENSE DOESN'T REST: After allowing just 62.3 points per game last season, the Otters are up to their old defensive tricks again by this season, allowing 58.5 ppg. The Otters have held their opponents under 70 points per game for seven consecutive seasons.
70 IS THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING: With apologies to Douglas Adams, the answer to everything isn't 42, it's 70. CSUMB enters the season 36–4 when scoring 70 or more points since the 2008–09 season. Up that number to 80 points and the numbers get even more impressive. The Otters have won 16 consecutive games when scoring at least 80 points dating back to the 2005–06 season.
GO OTTERS!
