TORO 3–DOT NOTES (19–5, 14–2 CCAA): Tailia Rayford's block of A'Jaee Foster at the buzzer secured a 59–58 win over then No. 23 Humboldt State Saturday night and pulled the Toros into a tie with the Lumberjacks for the CCAA lead…the Toros are winning with defense (59.7 ppg, No. 2 CCAA, No. 38 NCAA) and rebounding (margin of +7.9 rpg leads CCAA, No. 15 NCAA)…feature a balanced offense with four players scoring in double figures, led by Jr./G Breanne Garcia (14.1 ppg) and Sr./G Tailia Rayford (12.8 ppg)…despite standing just 5–6, Rayford leads the team (No. 4 CCAA) at 8.5 rpg.
WHEN LAST WE MET: The Otters gave the Toros what–for, nipping at their heels for almost the entire game until Dominguez hit 11–of–13 from the line over the final 4:47 to turn a 3–point game into a 62–48 win.
Jenna Bandy led a balanced Otter offense with 10 points. Monay Lee (18 and 11) and Tailia Rayford (12 and 15) led the Toros.
WHEN LAST WE PLAYED: The Otters won their second consecutive game, thwarting a late Sonoma State rally thanks to a short
Nikki Beckman jumper with five seconds remaining to win 54–52.
McKenna Hill led three Otters in double figures with 15 points.
Jazmine Johnson recorded her fourth double–double of the season with 11 and 14. She added a CSUMB record 6 blocked shots (see below).
THIS DATE IN OTTER HISTORY: The last time the Otters played on Feb. 13, they got 21 points from Veronica Williams and 16 more from Michelle Santizo in a 69–47 win over Cal State L.A. on Feb. 13, 2010.
JAZMINE FROM THE BLOCK: After setting a personal record with four blocks in last Friday night's win over San Francisco State (now No. 5 in MB history),
Jazmine Johnson exploded for a school–record six blocks the following night in the win over Sonoma State. Julie Heurung (with five blocks on three separate occasions) owned the old record. With 33 blocks on the season, she sits at No. 3 on that list. Only Heurung, who set the CSUMB record with 39 in 2011 and posted 38 in 2010, stands in front of her. She currently ranks No. 2 in the CCAA at 1.6 bpg.
RED–HOT HILL: Sophomore forward
McKenna Hill continued the hottest run of her young career with 26 points in two games last week. She is averaging 12.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game over her last six games.
BECKMAN REACHES A HIGH FIVE: Senior guard
Nikki Beckman passed for seven assists in last weekend's wins, vaulting her from No. 8 to No. 5 on the CSUMB career assist list with 156. Next up is Andrea Hanshew in fourth place with 172.
BANDY AND BECKMAN ARE MOVIN' ON UP: Senior guards
Jenna Bandy and
Nikki Beckman each figure to climb at least one more rung on the CSUMB career scoring chart this weekend. Bandy currently sits at No. 7 with 586 points, just four behind Jessica Fontenette (590). Beckman, meanwhile, needs one point to catch London Houchin (367) for No. 19 and 14 to catch Erika Ward (380) for No. 17.
HOW LOW CAN YOU GO: The 45 points allowed by the Otters vs. SFSU were the fewest they've allowed this season and the fewest since they held Sonoma State to 45 in a 48–45 victory last Feb. 28. The fewest allowed under
Kerri Nakamoto were 36 in a 50–36 win over Sonoma State on Jan. 25, 2014.
THE QUAD DOUBLE–DOUBLE: Jazmine Johnson recorded her team–leading fourth double–double of the season with 11 points and a career–high 14 rebounds Saturday versus Sonoma State.
OTTERS AMONG THE CCAA LEADERS: The following Otters enter tonight's action ranked among the CCAA leaders: SCORING: No. 8
Jenna Bandy (13.5 ppg); FG%: No. 5
Jazmine Johnson (.530); 3PT%: No. 10

WORKING OVERTIME: With their 63–59 overtime win in the last homestand versus Stanislaus, the Otters improved to 5–3 in overtime games at the NCAA level. It was CSUMB's first overtime win since defeating Sonoma State 64–59 (1 ot) on Dec. 3, 2011. CSUMB has played only two Division II seasons (2006 & 2012) without playing at least one overtime game.
