SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball program will both honor the memory of Gen Giammanco and support the foundation that bears her name during Tuesday night's CCAA volleyball match versus Cal State Dominguez Hills in The Kelp Bed. Admission to the match will be free for all fans. In lieu of admission, fans will be given the opportunity to donate in support of the Gen Giammanco Foundation.
For those who don't know her story, Genevieve "Gen" Giammanco was a talented local volleyball student–athlete who died tragically in an automobile accident in 2010 at the tender age of 17. To honor her memory, and the giving spirit with which she lived her life, family, friends and the local community came together to form the Gen Giammanco Foundation to provide financial support to deserving college bound student–athletes who exhibit the passion and commitment to achieve their dreams of both scholastic and athletic success.
Winners of the award in 2015 have gone on to play and study at colleges and universities all across the country, including CSUMB's own
Anela Visesio (Seaside HS). Visesio will be presented with her award before Tuesday's match.
