SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team holds four seniors on its roster. All four seniors have been consistent four-year starters for the Otters.
Kristen Womack (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek HS), Courtney Gaardsmoe (Los Angeles, Calif./Notre Dame Academy), Michelle Garrone (Petaluma, Calif./Petaluma HS), and
Regan Porteous (Lodi, Calif./St. Mary's HS) will play in their final collegiate game on Thursday evening at Chico State.
Two of the more well known players on the team this year, Womack and Porteous have been in a season–long race in career offensive categories. The two forwards rank either first or second in career goals scored, total points, and game–winning goals. While Womack seems to have a grasp on career goals with 17 (Porteous totals 14), Regan has a handle on the career assists with 13. Perhaps the closest race is in the total points category where the two seniors are seperated by one point. Womack comes into the final game with 42 and Porteous with 41.
Gaardsmoe has been a four year starter on the back line for the Otters. She waited until senior day vs. Cal State San Bernardino on October 25 to score her first collegaite goal. Gaardsmoe ranks second on the all–time list in minutes played (5,838) and is tied for fifth with 63 games started.
Garrone has been a staple in the midfield for CSUMB for four years and says that her game against Cal State L.A. this season was the best game of her career. She scored her second career goal in the 2–1 win.
