Dow Nets 10th Goal as Otters Extend Program-Record Unbeaten Streak to 10

CSUMB battles Cal State East Bay to 1-1 draw

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer continued its historic run Sunday afternoon, battling Cal State East Bay to a 1-1 draw at Cardinale Stadium to extend its program-record unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive matches.

The result moved the Otters to 7-2-7 overall and 5-2-5 in CCAA play, marking their longest unbeaten stretch in program history. Monterey Bay has now gone 5-0-5 over its last 10 contests, continuing an impressive run that dates back to Sept. 25.

Once again, Juliana Dow delivered offensively, scoring her team-leading 10th goal of the season in the 59th minute to give Monterey Bay a second-half advantage.

Dow found the back of the net at 58:47, breaking a scoreless tie and continuing an impressive scoring streak that has made her one of the top offensive threats in the CCAA.

The goal marked Dow's fourth consecutive match with a goal, following scores against Chico State, Fresno Pacific and Cal Poly Humboldt. Her 10 goals this season also place her among the program's top single-season scorers.

Monterey Bay controlled much of the opening half, generating five shots while holding Cal State East Bay to just one attempt. The Otters created several early scoring opportunities, including shots on goal from Ella Schug, Dow and Ashleigh Carroll.

The Otters continued to apply pressure after the break, registering eight second-half shots while maintaining possession in the attacking third.

Dow's goal finally broke through in the 59th minute, giving Monterey Bay a deserved 1-0 advantage.

Cal State East Bay responded in the 71st minute when Alisi Tauataina scored the equalizer off an assist from Maya Gutierrez-Zamudio, bringing the match level at 1-1.

Despite surrendering the lead, Monterey Bay remained aggressive over the final 19 minutes, searching for a winner while keeping the Pioneer attack in check.

The Otters finished with a 13-4 advantage in shots, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. Monterey Bay also controlled the corner-kick battle, earning six opportunities compared to just one for East Bay.

Naomi Tobias led all players with four shots, while Dow added three attempts, including two on target. Carroll finished with two shots, while Schug and Chloe Van Winkle each recorded an attempt on goal.

The Otters close out the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 29, traveling to Atherton to face Menlo College. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Wunderlich Field.
