TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team fell in 11 innings to Cal State Stanislaus, 5-4, in Friday's series opener.

A sacrifice fly by Stanislaus' Tanner Negrette scored Matt Chadlez gave the Warriors the walk-off win, to start the 4-game split series.

Down 4-3 with the bases loaded and two outs in the top ninth, sophomore Devin Finn (Pleasanton/Amador Valley HS) drew a full-count walk to push the game into extra innings.

CSUMB found itself down 2-0 five innings into the game before a RBI single by Finn put CSUMB board.  Finn later scored on a throwing error by CSUS's third baseman to knot the game at 2-2.

The Otters took their only lead of the game in the seventh.  After back-to-back walks and a pop-up bunt, senior Travis Bonner (Los Gatos/West Valley College) put one through the right side for sophomore Matt Urakami (San Jose/Branham HS) to plate.

The Warriors quickly answered with two runs in their side of the frame, thanks to a 2 RBI single by Marcus Mastrobuoni.

Finn went 3-for-4 with two walks, two RBIs and a run while Urakami and Bonner each registered two hits.

Stranding 16, Otters had a base runner in nine of the 11 innings.

Otter starter Jeff Owen (Clovis East HS) six and one-third innings, giving up four runs – three earned – on seven hits.  He struck out four Warriors and walked one.

The Warrior pitching staff that included starter Nick Voumard allowed 10 walks and 10 hits.

The Otters will resume play on Saturday, May 3, hosting the Warriors in a doubleheader beginning at noon. Senior day ceremony will be prior to first pitch.
