TEAM-BY-TEAM RESULTS l TEAM & INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARDS
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – A quartet of Otters put up red figures at the final round of the Western New Mexico Intercollegiate to power the No. 3 Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf team to the lowest score of the event at 275 and a third place finish.
"This was, overall, a rough tournament for us," said Head Coach
Jason Owen. "I never like losing but if there is a silver lining, we looked a lot better today.
"I expect us to keep the sense of urgency from this point forward."
CSUMB's final round of 275 beat the tournament's second best by six strokes, catapulting the Otters from eight place to third. Host Western New Mexico took the team title with an 11-under 853 three-round total.
Junior
Brandon Hortt (San Diego/San Diego State) led the Otters with a 3-under par 213 to place 12th out of 100 golfers. Hortt registered four birdies in the final round, including his third straight birdie on the par-5 No. 2 hole.
Senior
Dylan Jackson (San Diego/La Jolla HS) and sophomore
Ray Richards (Tualatin, Ore) finished in a four-way tie for 22nd at 2-over 218. Improving on each round, Jackson carded a final round of 3-under 69 with three birdies on the back nine. Richards was the lone Otter to finish above par in the final round, turning in 73.
Sophomore
Anton Rosen (Stockholm, Sweden) had the largest jump in the standings by moving up 37 spots to finish tied for 26th with a 219. He fired CSUMB's lowest round of the tournament with a 67 highlighted by an eagle on the second hole.

Carr Vernon (Poplar Bluff, Mo.) placed 38th at 221 after carding a 69 in the final round.
Colorado State-Pueblo's Alex Tiong was the individual medalist with a one-hole playoff victory over Colin Prater of Colorado State-Mesa after finishing tied after 54-holes of play at 208.
