TEAM-BY-TEAM RESULTS l TEAM & INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARDS
AUSTIN – No. 4 Cal State Monterey Bay finished second at the St. Edward's Invitational, as the conclusion of the second round marked the end of the weather shortened 36-hole men's golf tournament at Grey Rock Golf Club. The Otters improved on Monday's 296 with a second round score of 287 to finish at 7-over-par 583.
Top-ranked Barry (Fla.) captured the team title after an impressive -14 under performance on Tuesday for a two-round score of 570. The Buccaneers were led by Adam Svensson who took individual medalist honors with a 10-under 134.
No. 16 Western New Mexico (589) took third, followed by No. 14 Cal State Stanislaus (595) and Dallas Baptist (599).
"This week was a little better," said Head Coach
Jason Owen. "We battled the weather and came up short against a very good Barry team, but I am happy to see we played a little more respectable."
Sophomore
Carr Vernon (Poplar Bluff, Mo.) stayed steady, carding a repeat score of 71 to place second among the 85 golfers. After two birdies on the front nine, Vernon worked around three bogeys with two birdies after the turn.
Senior
Dylan Jackson (San Diego/La Jolla HS) birdied the final two holes to card the Otters' lowest second round with a 70. He moved up 11 spots for a share of 8th place with a 2-over 146.
Finishing just outside the top 10, junior
Brandon Hortt (San Diego/SDSU) scored a final round 76 for a tie for
11th place with a 3-over 147.
Sophomore
Anton Rosen (Stockholm, Sweden) matched Vernon's 71 after a disastrous first round 80 to finish tied for 30th.
Junior
Robby Salomon (Woodside/MPC) also improved on his opening round with a 75 to finish tied for 40th.
Otters next compete in the UC San Diego SoCal Intercollegiate Championship March 10-11 at Maderas Golf Club.
