Junior Kory Groves nabbed the win after two innings of relief.
BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – Junior
Jared Snow's (Riverside/Sierra College) 10th inning groundout resulted in back-to-back errors by visiting Point Loma as the No. 14 Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team rallied for a 5-4 victory on Friday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.
After drawing a walk to lead off the 10th, senior
Kaden Kamoe (Aiea, Hawaii/University of Hawaii) took off for second when Snow's ground out went through the Sea Lion's second baseman's legs. Kamoe received the green light to head home when PLNU's centerfielder had trouble fielding the ball.
The Otters were playing catch up from the get-go as Point Loma scored a run in the first followed by two runs in the second. CSUMB kept it close with a run in both of its first two frames.
CSUMB knotted the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth when senior
Michael Lonsdale (Castro Valley/Chabot College) reach first on a PLNU's shortstop error and Kamoe plated from third.
Junior
Kory Groves (Citrus Heights/Sacramento City College) grabbed his first win after two shutout innings. PLNU's Brett Carliles fell to 0-2 after 2.2 innings of action after relinquishing two runs, both unearned.
Sophomore
Andres Coll (Panorama City/Arieta HS) went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Otters.
PLNU outhit CSUMB 14-7 with Trey Hunt and Ryan Garcia each recording three hits.
The Otters (2-3) hope to get in a doubleheader against PLNU to conclude the series but heavy rain is forecasted for the morning. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
