POMONA, Calif. – The No. 14 Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team couldn't get out of Pomona fast enough Sunday after dropping its fourth consecutive game to Cal Poly Pomona 5-4.
The Broncos remain perfect at 10-0 (4-0 CCAA) while CSUMB falls to 3-8 on the season and 0-4 in conference action.
CSUMB saw its 4-2 lead disappear in the eighth when the Broncos took what would be their final at bat the distance, scoring three runs on four hits.
Otters scored first on a RBI single by senior
Mark Hurley (Hollister/College of San Mateo) and added two more in the fourth on senior
Cannon Bernarding's (San Jose/West Valley) single to center field.
Pomona put up runs in the sixth and seventh innings with an Otter run sandwiched in between to make it 4-2 CSUMB.
Senior
Kaden Kamoe (Aiea/Univ. of Hawaii) had CSUMB's lone extra base hit with a double in the fourth inning.
The Otters return home for a four-game series against Cal State L.A. beginning on Friday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m.
