GAME 2: CPP 4, CSUMB 3
The doubleheader nightcap was a true pitching duel between junior
Jeff Owen (Clovis East HS) and Broncos' Cody Ponce. Owen allowed just one hit but gave up six walks that led to a CPP run.
CSUMB knocked off five hits on Ponce but was unable to score in his six innings of action on the mound.
CPP added run in the sixth when Bo Walter connected for a RBI single on Otter reliever
Rickey Guerrero.
Hurley's seventh inning triple pushed junior
Brian Hamm (Pleasanton/Chabot College) across the plate and then scored on a Grant-Parks sacrifice fly.
Hurley once again came up big for CSUMB in the ninth with a RBI single up the middle to score Hamm who led off the inning with a walk.
The Broncos answered with four consecutive hits in the bottom of the ninth capped by a David Armendariz walk-off single.
