CSUMB accepting donations in lieu of ticket sales for this weekend’s matches

Men's Soccer | October 16, 2014

SEASIDE, Calif. — Like the rest of the Monterey Bay community, Cal State Monterey Bay and the Otter Athletics program were shocked and saddened by the death of 4–year–old Jaelyn Zavala in a tragic and senseless shooting last weekend. Jaelyn had graced the Otter Sports Complex fields with her presence many times while playing for the U6 Dragon Slayers of the Marina Youth Soccer Association.

To honor her memory and to support the Zavala family in their time of need, Otter Athletics will be accepting donations in lieu of ticket sales at this weekends men's and women's soccer doubleheaders versus UC San Diego (Friday) and Cal Poly Pomona (Sunday). All proceeds will go to the Jaelyn Zavala Memorial Fund.

"MYSA is a great partner of Otter Athletics and our soccer programs," says CSUMB Director of Athletics Kirby Garry (@KirbyGarry). "We consider them part of our MB family and it's important that we support MYSA and the Zavala family in this time of need."
