Olson's Walkoff Single Gives No. 8 CSUMB A 4-3 Win

Otters win 11th straight overall, 14 in-a-row at home

BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – Senior Jesse Olson's (Citrus Heights/Sierra College) walk-off single gave the No. 8 Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team its 11th consecutive victory, a 4-3 win over UC San Diego Friday at the Otter Sports Complex.
 
Pinch hitting with one out in the ninth, Olson laid down a single that just barely got by Triton third baseman Garrett Tuck to score senior David Garcia (Gilroy/Mission College).
 
Behind a 14-game home win streak, the Otters improve to 34-12 overall and 27-10 in conference action while UCSD drops to 25-22, 19-18 in CCAA play.
 
Senior Mark Hurley (Hollister/College of San Mateo) recorded the contest's first hit to lead off the bottom of the second and eventually scored from second on a two-out single by senior Tommy George (Elk Grove HS). 
 
CSUMB notched another leadoff hit in the third, this time off the bat of senior Victor Rasor-Thompson (San Diego/Univ. of San Diego).  A perfect hit-and-run with senior Ronnie Fhurong (Hollister/San Benito HS) put runners at the corners.  Senior Brian Haggett (Hollister/West Valley College) hit into a 6-4-3 double play but was able to pick up an RBI with Rasor-Thompson scoring to make it 2-0 CSUMB.
 
Junior Michael Lonsdale (Castro Valley/Chabot College) hit a blooper to center field to plate senior Jason Merjano (San Ramon/Sierra College) who was granted first after being hit in the shin on a 0-2 pitch.
 
All three UCSD runs came in the fifth inning with Danny Susdorf driving in two runs before scoring on Dillon Moyer's single.
 
Junior Josh Eagle (Antioch/Sierra College) earned with the win after two shutout innings of relief. 
 
Junior Will Anderson (Pleasanton/Fresno State) and UCSD's Ryan Goodbrand both went seven frames, giving up three runs on six hits for no decisions.
 
The Otters are back on the field on Saturday, May 3 for a twinbill against the Tritons beginning at 11 a.m.
