No. 12 CSUMB Extends Winning Streak To Ten

Otters clinch fifth series sweep with 7-1 win against Stanislaus on Sunday

BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – The No. 12 Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team recorded its 10th straight win and moved to 34-12 on the year with a 7-1 victory over Cal State Stanislaus.  The four-wins against the Warriors is CSUMB's fifth series sweep of 2013. 
 
The Otters (26-10 CCAA) are now tied for first in the CCAA standings with No. 24 Cal State L.A. with four games remaining in the regular season.  CSUMB hosts UC San Diego next weekend at the Otter Sports Complex. 
 
Senior Jordan Helmkamp (Aliso Viejo/Saddleback College) has tossed 15 consecutive shutout innings to lower his earned run average to 3.68.  In his eight innings on the mound Sunday, Helmkamp gave up three hits while striking out four and walking two. 
 
Senior Brian Haggett (Hollister/West Valley College) went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  Junior Cannon Bernarding (San Jose/West Valley College) added two hits including CSUMB's 80th double of the season.
 
CSUMB posted its only multi-run inning in the first with two runs on zero hits and two Warrior errors.  Senior Victor Rasor-Thompson (San Diego/Univ. of San Diego) reached base on a 4-pitch walk, advanced 90 feet on a wild pitch and scored on a dropped fly ball by the Warriors.  The second run came on a groundout by Mark Hurley (Hollister/College of San Mateo).
