BOX SCORE 2 CARSON, Calif. – The No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team split Saturday's twinbill at Cal State Dominguez Hills, winning the opener 9-5 before falling 2-1 in a true pitching duel.
The Otters (20-9, 12-7 CCAA) reach 20 wins for only the third time in program history with 21 games remaining in the regular season. The Toros are 14-14 overall, 11-12 in conference play.

Mark Hurley (Hollister, Calif./College of San Mateo) led the Otters, going 4-for-7 with a run.

Victor Rasor-Thompson (San Diego, Calif./Univ. of San Diego) drove in a game-high 3 runs after going 3-for-6 while Hurley also notched three hits.
The Otters broke the 1-1 tie in the fifth on a
Michael Lonsdale (Castro Valley, Calif./St. John's) two-out bases loaded single up the middle, scoring two runs.
The Otters put together five hits including a
David Garcia (Gilroy, Calif./Mission College) double for a six-run sixth inning to extend their lead to 9-1.
The Toros attempted a comeback by scoring four runs in the final two innings. CSUDH's Matt Montgomery (2-2) took the loss after five innings of work, allowing five runs – three earned – on eight hits and five walks.
GAME 2: CSUDH 2, CSUMB 1
A bases-loaded wild pitch by sophomore
Jeff Owen (Clovis, Calif./Clovis East HS) (6-1) broke up the one-run tie in the sixth inning as the Toros prevented a doubleheader sweep with a 2-1 victory in the nightcap.
Owen took his first loss of the season despite fanning nine batters and allowing just four hits.
Garcia scored in the second on a failed pickoff attempt by pitcher David Hearle.
The Toros tied the game in the bottom of the frame by scoring from third base while CSUMB was focused on a rundown between first and second.
