BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team earned a series split with Central Washington after splitting Saturday's doubleheader.  The Otters dropped game one 5-2 before shutting out the Wildcats 4-0 in the nightcap behind the sharp pitching of sophomore Jeff Owen (Clovis, Calif./Clovis East HS) and junior A.J. Quintero (Vacaville, Calif./Sacramento City College).

Senior Tommy George (Elk Grove HS) led the Otters, going 3-for-6 on the day with two runs.

The Otters begin CCAA action Friday, hosting Cal State East Bay at 2 p.m.

GAME 1: CWU 5, CSUMB 2
A 1-0 CSUMB quick start lead was short lived as CWU scored a run in the third and fifth innings.  The Otters evened the game in the bottom of the fifth on George's successful rundown between third and home.

The Wildcats charged back with a run in the sixth. CWU secured the win with two runs in the eighth.

The Otter bats struggled, coming up with only six hits to the Wildcats' 12.

Junior Will Anderson (Pleasanton, Calif./Fresno State) took the loss after pitching seven innings. He gave up eight hits while striking out seven batters.  CWU's Stuart Fewel threw a complete game, allowing only one earned run.

Mark Garza led the Wildcats, going 4-for-4 with two runs and 2 RBIs.

GAME 2: CSUMB 4, CWU 0
Owen tossed six innings, relinquishing only two hits while striking out a batter in each frame. A Wildcat never got in scoring position with Owen on the hill. Quintero came in for the final inning and got himself out of a jam with runners on second and third, forcing a fly out to right field.

Senior Brian Haggett (Hollister, Calif./West Valley JC) crushed a three-run homer in the first inning to put CSUMB up 3-0.

The Otters added another run in the second. George led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on an error by the shortstop and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Jason Merjano (San Ramon, Calif./Sierra College).
