BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – A pair of first half goals gave the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team a senior day to remember as the Otters snapped No. 22 Chico State 10-game win streak with a 2-0 victory.

With the win, the Otters (11-5-2, 9-5-2 CCAA) end their regular season with a program-best 11 wins and 36 goals.

"What a way to end the regular season and celebrate senior day," said CSUMB Head Coach Rob Cummings. "Not only was this a great win to celebrate the seniors, but also a great win as we try to fight to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament."

In the 27th minute, junior Alberto Anguiano (Oxnard/Pacifica HS) marked his fourth goal with a clinical finish off a precise cross from junior Max Madrigal.

Senior Servando Perez (Guadalupe/Righetti HS) got a breakaway with less than five minutes remaining in the half, blasting the ball to the far corner for his 11th goal of the season.

The Wildcats stepped up the pressure in the final minute as sophomore Evan Drake (Sacramento/El Camino HS) faced four shots including a penalty kick that went sailing over the crossbar.

The Otters lost the battle of shots 13-9 but made the most of two of their three shots on frame.

"I couldn't be more proud of the seniors and everyone else involved with our program to do what we did," Cummings said. "One would think that the year should have just been a fun and stress free season.  However, the players impressed me more with not what they did on the field by breaking school records, but for how they handled difficult situations thrown at them this season.  They showed great character and resilience and I am very proud of this team's character and maturity.

"We did what we could now we must see if it's enough to get in to the NCAA Tournament."

The waiting game has begun for the Otters, who were ranked seventh in the NCAA West Region poll last week.  Only the top six teams will have their ticket punched to the NCAA Tournament that begins Nov. 13.  The final regional polls will be posted at 4 p.m. (PST) on Nov. 11 on www.NCAA.com
