FINAL RESULTS

SEASIDE, Calif.
– For the third consecutive round, the No. 8 Cal State Monterey Bay shot the lowest round of Otter Invitational on Tuesday to cruise to a 27-stroke victory at 854 on the par-72, 6,810-yard Black Horse Course.

"This was a good way to end the fall season," said CSUMB Head Coach Jason Owen. "I am very proud of the team and a big congrats to Anton Rosen for getting his first of many wins.  This fall was a good start to the season and I am excited to get some time off where we can work on some areas of our game."

The Otters finished the 54-hole event at 10-under 854, defeating the reigning NCAA Champion and No. 1 Barry (881) by 27 strokes.  As a team, the Otters shot an even par 288 on the final day to capture their second team title of the fall season. CSUMB won the Golfweek Invitational with a 20-stroke victory over then No. 2 Nova Southeastern and No. 4 Lynn.

After birdying 16 and 18, sophomore Anton Rosen (Stockholm, Sweden) finished the 54-hole event tied for first at 5-under 211, forcing a playoff with Barry's Mario Beltran.  After both golfers made par on 14, Beltran's third swing took him within 2 feet of the 18th pin and knocked it in for birdie.

With scores of 71, 70 and 70, Rosen was the only golfer out of a field of 80 that shot under par in all three rounds.

For the third consecutive tournament, senior Dylan Jackson (San Diego/La Jolla HS) just missed the individual medalist honors.  With a 69 on Tuesday, Jackson was just two strokes out of first with a 213. He finished with a tournament-best 14 birdies.

Junior Brandon Hortt (San Diego/SDSU) nabbed his third top 10 finish, tying for fourth with a 1-under par 215.

In his first tournament of the fall, junior Robby Salomon (Woodside/Serra HS) finished seventh with a 1-over par 217.  Junior Matt Ogden (Salinas/Palma HS) placed 13th at 220.

The win marks the second time CSUMB has won its own tournament under Owen's tutelage.  The Otters defeated then No. 2 Nova Southeastern by four strokes last fall.

Sophomore Ray Richards (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin HS) led CSUMB individual golfers with a 5-over par 222 for a share of 14th.

Wilmington (DE) placed third at 289, followed by University of British Columbia (895) and UC San Diego (897).

The Otters will begin their spring season at Hawaii's Ameri Ari Invitational with a field of seven nationally-ranked NCAA Division I teams including No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 8 Stanford, No. 13 UCLA and No. 14 Texas.
