SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team made program history by winning three straight games against then No. 6 Sonoma State earlier this season. Today, the Otters fell 12-5 in the rescheduled series finale to the Seawolves.
The Otters dropped to 19-26 overall and 16-20 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play while the Seawolves improved to 30-16, 21-15 in conference action.
Junior #Danny Nelson# and sophomore #Ronnie Fhurong# each had two hits to lead the Otters.
CSUMB quickly found itself in a four-run hole after the first inning. After giving up another run in the top of the second inning, the Otters posted three runs on one hit in their at-bat. Sophomore #Tommy George# drew a leadoff and stole second base. Sophomore #Nolan Murray# was rewarded first after being hit by a pitch and Fhurong laid down a bunt to the pitcher for a single to load the bases. Senior #Greg Fujii# connected on a sacrifice fly to plate George. Sophomore #Tony Hernandez# once again loaded the bases after taking four balls. Nelson reached first on a fielder's choice while Murray and Fhurong both crossed the plate to make it 5-3 Seawolves.

Chris Lopiccolo drew a leadoff walk in the third inning.
Sonoma State answered with three runs on three hits and two CSUMB errors in the fourth inning. O'Koyea Dickson hit a 2 RBI single and scored when Alex Todd reached first base on an error.
CSUMB's final run came when Nelson tripled to right center field and scored on junior #Randall Packard#'s ground out to shortstop.
The Seawolves would score one run in the sixth inning and three more runs in the eighth.
For Sonoma State, Dickson went 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. Ian Ocon picked up the victory after five innings of work, giving up two earned runs on two hits.
Junior #Austin Thiel# took the loss after allowing five runs in two innings.
The Otters wrap up their 2011 season with a four-game series at Cal State Dominguez Hills beginning on Friday, May 6.
