Otters See Upset Slip Away Against No. 15 CSUDH

CARSON, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball saw its upset slip through its fingers on a last second shot by No. 15 Cal State Dominguez Hills, falling to the Toros 67-65 on Friday night.

Sophomore #Davion Berry# notched his fifth straight game of scoring 30 or more points, finishing with 34 points.  Sophomore #Brandon Ward# contributed 14 points and four rebounds.  Sophomore #Derrick Anderson# added nine points and five rebounds.

The Otters jumped out to a 20-10 lead nine minutes into the game. The Toros rallied back to cut the CSUMB lead to 29-27 on a jumper by Tim McLaurin. A 11-2 run put CSUDH up 36-33 at the halftime break.

The Toros held a double-digit lead four minutes into the second half before Berry got hot, scoring 10 points for the Otters in five minutes to cut the gap to 52-50 CSUDH.

The Otters once again saw the gap move to 10 points before staging another rally.  This time CSUMB took a 65-63 lead on Berry's 3-pointer at 1:19. 

CSUDH's James Cawthorne sank two free throws to tie the game for the fourth time.  After Berry's missed 3-pointer with 30 seconds remaining, Marcquintice Davis sank a jumper in the last second.

The Otters conclude its regular season road trip on Saturday, Feb. 12 against Cal State L.A. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
